Genki Sushi @ Sunway Pyramid in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

What a good day on last few weeks ago where my good friend, Selina Wing and I were excited to have a food hunting after shopping around in Sunway Pyramid. Since we are a big fan of Japanese cuisine and craving for the sushi, we were heading to the Genki Sushi Restaurant which is located in LG1 of Sunway Pyramid, Selangor.

Are you a sushi lover too and ever you heard about Genki Sushi Restaurant before? Come! Let us explore about this restaurant awhile. According to the Genki Sushi’s Facebook Page, this Japanese restaurant has just recently launched a new outlet and the grand opening session is from 18th until 29th   November 2018. All of us can dine in Genki Sushi Restaurant starting now! As you all can know, this Genki Sushi Restaurant is the first outlet opened in Malaysia. This is so exciting!


How about the history of Genki Sushi? “Their story begin with the vision of a 24 year old Japanese Sushi Chef, Fumio Saito who dreamed of creating a modern sushi restaurant with an unusual feature known as a ‘Kaiten’ (literally translated as ‘revolving’). In December 1968, he created the concept of Kaiten Sushi and pioneered the use of a revolving conveyor belt to serve sushi combining serving traditional sushi with modern technology.

Not long after, Kaiten Sushi became a household name in the region of Japan. In 1990, Genki Sushi Co. Ltd. Was established and in 1991, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. With its dedication to freshness, the company quickly gained public support and successfully expanded further throughout Japan. In 1992, Genki Sushi’s move into the international arena in 1992 marked a new era for the company with rapid regional expansion worldwide over the years. Today, Genki Sushi has outlets opening in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kuwait, Philipines, China, Australia, Cambodia, Thailand and Hawaii. Genki Sushi launched first Kousoku Express store in Japan as a latest innovation to better serve customers their orderd the freshest and fastest way. When we have walked into Genki Sushi, the environment were quite cozy and comfortable! Honestly, my friend and I were curious to explore this restaurant because it is our very first time to experience new services such as food ordering via scanning QR code and then the sushi is delivered to the place where we seated via bullet train. These unique services have delighted everyone who is curious! No doubt where nowadays, smartphone is a must device for us to use daily and with the technology of scanning QR code, every one of us will able to use and thus fully utilized the technology! When we were placing the order via QR code scanning, the steps were relatively straightforward where you are just required to scan QR code via WeChat in your smartphone. If you don’t have WeChat app, you can use Facebook app to scan QR.

After that, we can see a variety of Sushi, Sashimi, Handroll, Hot Food and Udon & Donburi and etc. You can just choose and order which you want to eat directly from the phone screen! What is an interesting and unique system that we encountered! Curious about the system? Genki Sushi is using the Kousoku Express system which is called as Japanese Shinkansen bullet train where it takes shorter time to deliver the meals to the customers. Just an illustration, a chef in kitchen who has placed a sushi on the Kousoku Express train, it will then deliver to your dining area in faster way! Genki Sushi believe that the faster sushi serving speed with this system can always remain the freshness and quality of the food. The waiters no longer required to serve the meals to customers! Overall, we enjoyed the meals so much because with the Kousoku Express, our ordered sushi can always delivered to us faster! Awesome!






Wow! First time, I see this green tea powder then I just pour a teaspoon of green tea powder and pour some water. Normally, we use green tea bag into the cup before.


While enjoying the hot green tea, the signature of Genki Sushi namely “Dai Man Zoku” is finally served by Kousoku Express delivery system. Wowow!! We were surprise to see a variety of the signature sushi, Dai Man Zoku where the size is 1.5 times bigger than the standard sushi that we had elsewhere. Nevertheless, the price is reasonable where the sushi is only cost RM4.80 / piece. This was our first time to experience in eating the sushi in bigger size!



Absolutely, we enjoy to eat all Sushi in the ambiance environment. It makes us satisfy and feels very full! By the way, there is alternative menu that you can choose if you would love to eat!
