Picnic at Lake, Amcorp Mall organized by hearing students RC Mission, Malaysia

Last weekend for May month ago, my good friend, Kimberly invited me and my schoolmate friend, May Sin to join the picnic in the morning. What a funny thing was when we could not find the venue which was Taman Jaya Lake, Amcorp Mall despite we always went to Amcorp Mall before. However we did not know where to discover the lake around Amcorp Mall area. So we went the loop twice time.

Finally, we managed to find it out and we were not very late to come. So funny! This picnic was organised by Level 3 Sign Language Students of RC Mission Malaysia. Those people were hearing students who interested to learn about Sign Language and Deaf Culture. This event held because it encouraged hearing students to understand Deaf community better through the activities during the event. Other than that, they interacted with deaf people by using Sign Language in order to understand and improve their Sign Language skills. Besides that, Agnes, Founder of RC Mission Malaysia and deaf evaluators who evaluated how was their Sign skills and interaction with Deafs.

First at all, we had to register our name and get free goodies bag. I saw that there were few deafs came along. Some of them who were my friends that I did not meet them for a long time. I was very delighted to meet them again. One of hearing students group put the cute tatoo on my arm which was pirate symbol. Each of us had our own tatoo but there was two different tatoo, "priate" and "me,us, you" symbol required us to join which was the group divided into two groups. Before the event started, a project leader(Sign Language student) introduced herself and her group and explained about the scheduled time for this picnic. At the same time, she invited Agnes Peter who was a founder of RC Mission, Malaysia gave her speech about the purpose of the event held this time. More interesting, she show her facial expression. No wonder some people got her wrongly for example, they thought that Was she deaf lady? Because her sign was very well at all.

There was two games that we need to take part for the fun activities which was straw & rubber hole and couple balloon race. First game was we need to give the rubber hole to other people by using straw on our mouth. Other game was each couple had to make sure a balloon sticked with our arm or part of our body that we like and walked around the loop and give it to other couple. Me,Us,You group won both games. My group lose but we enjoyed to play games. After that, Agnes present the prize for the group who just won the games. Besides that, she gave the certificate to few top students who did well for their exam and explained why they passed all the assignment and exam. For example, they wrote their touching story and how deafs inspired them with their experience and real situation that they faced before. Anyways, their story inspired Agnes as what she described earlier. Congratulations to those hearing students who passed the exam and did very well. Of course, we did not forget to take photo together.

The lunch had been provided for us. There was few types of foods that we could choose as we like. We enjoyed to eat because all of us were hungry and the weather was hot and make us sweat. At the same time, we social and interact with hearing students or deaf friends. Just social with them for the short time only. But this event was really enjoyable and fun. As what Agnes said earlier, those students would have their exam in August soon. I wish them all the best and good luck for their exam. Looking forward to see more hearing people to learn Sign Language and of course, it would be better if they become interpreter for deaf community in the future as we know that there was a lack of the interpreter for Deaf community in Malaysia.
