Kokoro Japanese Restaurant @ Cheras, KL

What a delightful day. We like to  explore new Japanese restaurant in Cheras on our first time. There is Kokoro Japanese Restaurant, which is a good heart of place to recommend to enjoy your dining in Kuala Lumpur! It located at Taman Segar Cheras, Kuala Lumpur where it just near with the Cheras Leisure Mall. Firstly, we have a difficult time to look for a parking space, so not easy! We shocked that this location is quite strategic because there are a lot of shops, always be packed with many cars when the neighborhood house area which are near this place. Finally, I discovered Kokoro Japanese Restaurant which be located at the same row of shoplet with Dragon Door Steamboat. So, my good friends and I have a great experience of authentic Japanese Cuisine which is filled with the aroma and flavorful of dishes. Thank you so much, Joe and Hannie Wong, couple of owners for Kokoro Japanese Restaurant who welcomed us for the food tasting session. She is such a friendly and cheerful lady ever I meet. Thank you very much for Ms Hannie' kindness and we are truly enjoy to have a great time with her and have a lovely meals at Kokoro. The feeling is amazing and awesome!


When we step into this restaurant, we impressed when see the simple decoration but combines into the modern Japanese style. Especially about an amazing story about a husband who is the owner of Kokoro Japanese Restaurant get his creative idea to make the decoration with his own effort into this restaurant as what Hannie mentions about it. The unique tree caught my eyes because it decorates the colorful lamps which hanged on the tree. Quite impressive! So that's why we have spotted it immediately. Most of the wood decorates on the wall and one of them become the hanger. So it is different than other restaurant. Due to this restaurant gives us a warm and comfortable feeling, eg. this restaurant just like our warm house! Kokoro always welcome all customers come with their pleasant feeling. I like this place so much. Even my good friends, James and Selina love it also.


My friends and I curious about the meaning of Kokoro! Well, according to Ms Hannie, Kokoro has a meaningful meaning. It indicates "Heart" which is coming from our sincere heart. She shares her story with us about her husband who used to work as chef and have a culinary experience for 30 years who love to cook and love to create and taste the traditional Japanese Cuisine. Thus, he decides to focus on Japanese Cuisine to make different meals with his sincere heart. In short, a heart give us authentic Japanese taste. So that's why they get the concept about "Kokoro", then they decided to set up the Kokoro Japanese Restaurant. Mostly, all the ingredient have directly imported from Japanese food company. Thus, we able to experience a truly Japanese meals and beverages. So cool!

While we waited for the meals, we have a conversation with Ms Hannie simultaneously, She explained about  3 different drinks that we would love to try out; Gyumuyo Matcha Latte (Hot is RM8.90, Cold is RM10.90). It has a smell milk inside Latte but not very strong smell of milk otherwise it is quite great taste when combine the matcha latte with milk. Obviously, I like it.


Other drink named Hojicha Latte looks like coffee however it is not coffee especially it makes us surprise that it is green tea actually when we saw it just like the brown colour, looks like "mocha". It is very best to drink hot Hojicha Latte so good! It just price (RM8.90-Hot, RM10.90-Cold)


Well, they served the Gyumuyo Matcha Honey Lemon (RM9.90). We thought that it is normal green tea, looks like 'grass' colour. My friends and I surprised when we tried to drink a really new Green Tea with honey and lemon which make us felt more lemon inside our mouth and it is not strong smell of Green Tea. Anyways, I enjoyed to drink different beverages which recommended by Ms Hannie.

Next, we can't wait to see the meals which will be served for us where Ms Hannie who like to recommended few popular dishes, beverages and dessert at Kokoro Japanese Restaurant! ITADAKIMASU! It means Let's eat!. 


Most popular of meal that many customers love to order are Grilled Pork Belly Don (RM16.90) consists the grill pork belly has filled with aroma rice with the side dishes which is salad and miso soup. When bite the pork, it has an aroma, freshness and softness of pork especially the fresh pork grill coated with sweet sticky sauce and roasted sesame to make the crunchy and soft pork. We like this so much. It is quite delicious. My friends love to eat this meal so much. According to Ms Hannie, there are 5 members of family ordered their favorite; Grilled pork belly don meals because it is very worth to eat a best tasty grilled pork with the cheaper price. This is highly recommendation since it is an affordable price.


In addition, other popular dish are Claypot Seafood Udon (RM15.90) which the customers who love to eat soup and udon. In the mini claypot, it have different portion of seafood are squid, scrimp, vegetable, enoki mushroom and egg and udon noddles. It has aroma and superb soup which be absorbed from different seafood. Thus it has a strong smell of seafood soup. Otherwise, it is quite nice to taste and drink the soup. If you are claypot lover, you should give a try to eat this popular dishes which suggested by the wife of owner. Quite craving!


Wow! You can try a healthy salad. When the meal served on the table, it is Mustard Dressing with Vegetable & Sashmi Salmon (RM20.90). It has a salmon which attracts us to bite it with water mouthing. The salad has different vegetable such as cherry tomatoes, cucumber, lecture included salmon filled with the special sauce. It is very delicious. We like this salad so much. Feel want to eat it again. If you want to have a health food, you must try this dishes, you will fall in love with it quickly.


Last meal which is Nasu Itame (RM13.90) contains mix vegetable such as brinjal, green vegetable, tomatoes and bijirin with special sauce. Once I bite it, it gives me the warm feeling because this food looks like homemade's mommy cooking. Such a amazing feeling. Therefore, it make us love it so much. Really delicious! Water mouthing. You should try all meals as what I mention earlier. It is very worth to eat! Even it is affordable price.


Yahoo! My good friends and I are dessert lover! You can try to eat their special of signature dessert which has prepared by Kokoro, The green tea dessert named Gyumuyo Matcha Parfait (RM17.90). Wow! it is the most expensive dessert otherwise it is really drooling and craving and must try it once. Well, it has different layers which is Green Tea Kit Kat, butter, mochi, red bean, whipped cream and others. Obviously, it has correct balance the taste and sweetness and richer with soft serve ice cream. When we bite it, it is not very sweet but the combination of the layers which gives a very best taste dessert. It makes us feel happy and enjoy to eat dessert so much. Definitely, we like to eat it again when we be free to come over this restaurant. Overall, it is MUST TRY the Gyumuyo Matcha Parfait dessert, so do not miss it out!

Overall, we are really enjoy these meals filled with the love, sincere and happiness at their restaurant especially have amazing conservation with Ms Hannie that moment. Truly appreciate your kindness and cheerful and friendly lady. Such a precious time and memorable.
