Lao Ping Hokkien Mee @ Sea Park Restaurant, Petaling Jaya

Aww...I haven't eaten Hokkien Mee in a long time. My family and I used to eat it quite frequently when we lived nearby in the past. Recently, my family and I had a craving for this Hokkien Mee, so we decided to try it at a well-known and famous stall that serves the best Hokkien Mee in the Klang Valley area. Can you guess where we are going? It is Lao Ping Hokkien Mee at Sea Park, Petaling Jaya. It is only a 30-35 minute drive from my house. We go there right after we finish shopping in the evening.

According to the viral video and news reports, it is one of the restaurants serving the best Hokkien Mee in the Klang Valley area. To be honest, this is my first visit to this restaurant so it will come as no surprise to see the crowds during dinner and supper time. There are several stalls serving a variety of foods. However, we must be prepared to wait for 30 to 40 minutes before the food is served. Therefore, you will have to wait patiently and even if you have been waiting for an hour or more specifically if you are not hungry or in a hurry, if you want to try their signature dishes. We were already hungry at that point and managed to eat it after a long wait. That is such a relief.

What's interesting is that they are famous for cooking on charcoal stoves. Anyway, we chose three different types of Mee. The first are Hokkien Mee, Hokkien Bee Hoon, and Cantonese-fried Kuey Teow. Actually, I had too high of expectations for these mee. However, it did not meet my expectations. Maybe I hoped too much. Hahaha! The Hokkien Mee includes Hokkien Bee Hoon, which is perfectly coated with dark soya sauce and consists of pork lards, prawns, and vegetables. The pork lard, in particular, enhances the flavours and adds crispness and savouriness. The flavour is quite okay. It would be even better if the chilli came with the noodles. Meanwhile, the Cantonese-fried Kuey Teow was just okay, not too salty.

In my opinion, I would not come back because we have to wait for 30 minutes to an hour above when we dined in during dinner/supper time. You should arrive early if you want to try their Hokkien Mee dishes.
