SWANZ, a leader in the porcelain ware industry, creates a toxic-free, lightweight lunch box in the Japanese style in an effort to support a healthy, environmentally friendly way of life. The "Ohayo Bento" was developed to suit the current trend in the market for toxic-free, eco-friendly lunch containers. Made entirely of solid porcelain and covered in a non-toxic silicone sleeve, the novel oval lunchbox is fashioned.

“Having been in the industry for more than 10 years and a global market leader in porcelain ware, SWANZ has always strived to be better. We are very open to customer’s insights and always try to make better products that have a greater impact on people and the environment” said Olivia Cerelia, Product Designer at SWANZ.
According to Olivia, there is a huge shift towards healthy eating especially since the pandemic. More people are cooking at home and bringing their own lunch boxes to the workplace or packing bento meals for their kids and spouses. In the past, people used stainless steel, plastic lunch boxes or single use boxes. However, we see this changing as people are now more aware of toxic materials that are detrimental to health and the need to protect the environment, hence there is a switch to natural and eco-friendly boxes, she added.
SWANZ "Ohayo Bento" is made of 100% solid porcelain, which does not include any dangerous chemicals and does not leave behind grease, stains, or odors. It makes the lightest porcelain lunch box now on the market thanks to a unique lightweight porcelain technology. The "Ohayo Bento" weights only 480 grams, compared to the 850 grams of a glass bento box with a 900ml capacity. It has a distinctive oval form that is easier to grip than a square bento box and a built-in double compartment to prevent the food from getting mixed up inside.
The silicone used to wrap the Bento not only improves heat retention but also serves as a creative design element that helps prevent leakage when the container is turned upside down. Compared to stainless steel, silicone absorbs heat more effectively. Consider a stainless steel lunchbox as an example. The temperature of the food inside can decrease by 10 degrees after heating and resting at room temperature for two hours. A tiny plug in the silicone cap allows for the release of heat pressure while reheating. The entire lunchbox can go in the microwave as long as the pressure hole is open. The heated silicone-coated porcelain also shields the porcelain's structural integrity from harm. The Bento can be prepared using a variety of appliances, including a microwave, steamer, oven, and refrigerator. The silicone lid makes storage easy, keeping unpleasant odors from the fridge away.

The "Ohayo Bento" comes in three sizes: 650ml single compartment, 650ml double compartment, and 900ml single compartment. Each size is created to accommodate the user's specific requirements, whether it be packing a complete bento meal or separating the food according to personal preference. Black, lilac, mint, and beige are the four appealing colors that are offered.
There are four exquisitely crafted accessories to go with the Bento, including a porcelain soup cup to match the lunch box and a thermal insulation bag in colors inspired by Japan that transforms into an easy-to-clean and pack eating mat.
