Handmade and Fresh Ricotta @ Cotta Mont Kiara, KL
What a lovely weekend, my brother, cousins, and I went to discover a hidden rooftop cafe in Mont Kiara. Can you guess where it is? This is our first visit to Cotta, also known as Cotta KL, which is located at Verve Shops in Mont Kiara. No worries, you can park in the Verve Shops, which is more convenient.
They serve a delectable and mouthwatering variety of dishes such as salads, pastas, and sandwiches from breakfast to brunch or lunch, made with the freshest ingredients, particularly handmade and fresh ricotta cheese, their specialty made daily and very fresh. They make their Ricotta with the highest quality local pasteurized cow's milk and locally grown zesty lemons. It has a two to three-week shelf life. This cafe is highly recommended if you want to discover the best and freshest ricotta cheese in the Klang Valley area.
Wow! When we entered the environment, Cotta greeted us with an abundance of Christmas trees that were just around the corner. In addition, there is a vintage motorbike that has really caught my attention especially since the spacious environment is quite cozy and there are many plants surrounding us. Where it gave me a sense of calm and good vibes. Absolutely, it is an ideal spot for taking beautiful photos behind the beautiful scenery. We enjoy taking photos together!
Anyway, I did not have the opportunity to meet the founder of Cotta, Ivan Chong at that time, but I believe that many of you, including myself, would like to hear an interesting story about Cotta, and let's learn more about its history. According to his story on the Cotta website, he began to set up Cotta during the pandemic after facing a few challenges in his career and life. He put in extra effort and committed all of his time, money, and energy after learning how to make Ricotta on YouTube starting that, he gained confidence and built his creative idea towards Ricotta and turned it into a variety of delectable dishes with the most freshly Ricotta. It fulfills his dream of opening his own cafe. Within two years, his small cafe evolved from a hidden gem in Damansara Heights to a rooftop cafe in Mont Kiara. As a result, his journey has become more beautiful and sparkly, just as his life should be. Wow! What a lovely story to share! The quote like "Don't give up on your dreams, no matter how difficult the journey"

I can't wait to see the unique and special sandwiches, The Prawn Special (RM46) that will be available for a limited time (10 for a day). I'm like, "Wow!" This is a must-try signature dish! Local Sabah prawns poached in a homemade tomalley are topped with a variety of ingredients such as secret sauce, ebiko, sous-vide egg, nori, and freshly made ricotta. The flavor is a perfect combination, especially the prawns, which are too good to bite! It is the most expensive dish on the menu, but it is also one of the most popular and signature dishes. Although the price is expensive, it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that is well worth experiencing.
Chuck Mooris (RM28) is another dish that will be served. What exactly is it? This dish is recommended for those who enjoy beef. Chuck Mooris consists of smoked Australian beef, homemade chimichurri, chilli padi, sous-vide egg, fresh ricotta, and sourdough bread. This beef is slow-cooked for 6 hours and then smoked before serving. I was surprised to see that the chili padi had also been given. You can try it if you want to amp up the spiciness. The flavor is quite good, and the beef does not have a strong meat odour.
Aside from that, I get very excited when the Mushroom Ricotta Pasta (RM29) is served. It's made with three types of local mushrooms, smoked mushrooms, a sous-vide egg, rocket, Sarawak black pepper, and al dente spaghetti. Absolutely, freshly made ricotta is a must-have sauce to go with its pasta. As a result, it's quite unique! I never expected it to have a good balance of flavors and soft cheese that absorbed into its pasta.
Summer Harvest Salad (RM23) is a good option for those who enjoy vegetarian cuisine. I have no doubt that it is delicious because it combines organic greens, cherry tomatoes, a variety of nuts, crutons, sun-dried fruits, cheddar, balsamic drizzle, and olive oil. What's fascinating is that they select their organic greens from their own plants. So Cool and Fresh!

In addition, they introduced a few new dishes such as the Homemade Granola Bowl, Smoked Salmon Ricotta Roll, Chicken Pate Spread, Mushroom Pate Spread, Leafy Bowl, and Rocket Bowl. We opted for the Smoked Salmon Ricotta Roll. It is made up of smoked salmon, rocket, vegetables, and fresh ricotta. The salmon is rolled with the vegetable.
Last but not least, we are very excited to try their specialty dessert because we know that fresh Ricotta will be used in every dish. Cotta's Panna Cotta (RM19) was finally served. It is available in two flavors: blueberry and strawberry. Without a doubt, we still have a taste for dessert at this time. Feeling good after tasting it! It tastes even better than I expected. We enjoy it! It's a must-try dessert!
Furthermore, we discovered that there are several beverages that we have never tried before. So we're curious and want to try it. Can you guess what it is? We ordered a few beverages, as usual, such as Hot Mocha (RM17) and Hot Chocolate (RM16), but we only chose two more to try, "Kombucha"-Lycee & Rose (RM15) and "Sorry KJ" Lemonade (RM15). I'm like, "What exactly is it?" Kombucha has a strong aroma of Lycee and Rose with a slight sparking flavor and a taste similar to alcohol, but it is neither sparkling soda nor alcohol.
Meanwhile Sorry KJ has a mixture of flavors such as bitter, sweet, and sour, and it is especially refreshing when dipped in ice and enjoyed. Overall, it was a new experience for me to try the special bottle for the first time. I feel good and refreshed after drinking it.
Not only that, but Cotta sells Cotta's Ricotta in Jar (300g), Cotta's Pate (180g), Ewing's Sourdough Loaf, Sijori Sambal, Cotta's Home-made Granola, and many other products. You can purchase it through their links and you can also order food for delivery or pick-up. The URL is https://cotta.beepit.com
Overall, we had a fantastic time unwinding in a cozy atmosphere. If you enjoy cheese, Cotta is highly recommended. You can bring your family or friends to unwind together and enjoy delectable food and beverages.
