BIM Poetry @ RC Deaf Missions Malaysia

Deaf Awareness Month in September makes this month especially significant for Deaf people. My good friend and I are quite happy and eager to learn more from a variety of speakers at RC Deaf Mission Malaysia, which organized a series of events with various themes on each weekend in September.

There would be a kick-off event called An Appreciation Of BIM Through Deaf Poetry on September 10th, 2022. It's an exciting time to learn from two Deaf Poets, Ms. Anna Laura, and Ms. Geja, who share their fantastic BIM Poetry experience. They also discussed their difficulties in learning poetry during that 5- 6 month period. They overcame it, and now they are more confident after practicing their BIM Poetry. Thank you to Ms. Anne Laura and Ms. Gejaletchumi for their amazing sharing experience.

When Ms. Anne Laura and Gejaletchumi saw how Paula, a well-known poet, guided them and encouraged them to understand more deeply about poetry, they were supposedly quite impressed, according to Ms. Anna Laura and Gejaletchumi. First of all, they acknowledged that poetry is incredibly challenging to understand. Otherwise, they gained a lot of knowledge in a range of aspects, including rhyme, repetition, rhythm, visual vernacular (VV), song, and many more. They showed us some of the best examples of their poetic videos, including people, objects, and animals that serve as sources of inspiration and behavior for them. Thus, they can use their imagination to express their feelings and expressions by using their hands, faces, and bodies, as well as through BIM Poetry.

It is incredible to see how beautiful BIM Poetry is expressed by Deaf people despite the absence of music or sound. Despite their brief speech, they share their wonderful experiences and inspire us to learn more about how beautiful BIM Poetry is. Even hearing audiences find it enjoyable to hear their stories. In the future, I hope to see more BIM Poetry and Poet. Even so, it can help hearing people learn more about Deaf culture and inspire them in an indirect way. Absolutely, it can motivate those interested in learning more about BIM Poetry.

Aside from that, they will hold a lucky draw following the closing event. The special lucky draw will be given to 7 people. Congratulations to everyone who won the drawing prize, which included me. Receiving the Lucky Draw's gift is quite surprising. Thank you very much, RC Deaf Missions Malaysia. Absolutely, I am absolutely delighted to see my friends and everyone who knows me after such a long time. Anyway, it's a truly wonderful time to see old and new friends at this special event.

At RC Deaf Missions Malaysia, they sell a variety of merchandise, including T-shirts, BIM books, handmade products, and many more. Those items were created and designed by Deaf Staff. What's particularly intriguing is that they have a small cafe where they serve foods and drinks prepared by Deaf staff. Not only that, but RC Deaf Missions Malaysia also offers Bahasa Malaysia Isyarat/Malaysian Sign Language(BIM) courses for those who are interested in learning BIM. Through this class, they will be able to socialize with Deaf people from various backgrounds, as well as have the opportunity to become interpreters and contribute to the Deaf community.

I can't wait! It's very exciting to see the event. Guess what? RC Deaf Missions Malaysia will hold two more events!

  • September 17, 2022 - On Accessibility and Inclusion - the Role of JBIMs in the Life of the Deaf Community
  • September 24, 2022 - Deaf Skills and Deaf Advocacy.

Even though International Sign Language Day has passed, we should continue to promote it. Let's raise awareness of the Deaf Community and the importance of BIM (Bahasa Isyarat Malaysia/Malaysian Sign Language) in order to attract more people's attention and communicate with the Deaf. It would be more exciting and enjoyable. If you interested to learn BIM course, you can contact RC Deaf Missions Malaysia. Bring your friends and interact with Deaf people to make new friends and learn new things.
